Camping Sardinia

Our highlights and tips for camping in Sardinia

We were on the road in Sardinia for 2024 weeks in September 3. In addition to great campsites and places that we were able to discover, we were also able to test some off-road tracks. Sardinia offers countless tracks and side roads to explore that lead through great towns and natural landscapes. We chose all the routes for the tracks from the Sardinia Trackbook (ISBN 978-3-9824200-3-5), which we can definitely recommend. In our experience, with a higher vehicle (in our case a Hymer Gran Canyon S Crossover Campervan), the green and blue tracks (difficulty level easy and medium) are recommended, and of these only those that are also marked as suitable for trucks/expedition vehicles.

Localita La Conia

Camping Centro Vacanze Isuledda

At the campsite Isuledda Holiday Center We were there on our first trip to Sardinia. The campsite has grown even further in recent years. The location is great, the staff friendly (we received very good advice and a friendly welcome) and the site is very well maintained. The site also has 3 great sandy beaches. There are some (premium) pitches with a view of the bay.

aggius

Farmhouse Il Muto di Gallura

On this beautiful agriturismo Il muto die Gallura We came across Aggius, a small, charming mountain village (province in north-eastern Sardinia), by chance. The agriturismo has beautiful rooms and houses that can be booked. We reserved a table for dinner by email and asked if we could park our camper in the parking lot for one night, which was happily confirmed. Important: There is no camping infrastructure (toilets, fresh water, sewage, etc.). The farm is in a beautiful setting and goats, pigs, cats and other animals live here. The food (we chose the menu; à la carte is also possible) is highly recommended and consists of several courses with specialties of Sardinian cuisine.

Stay: 1 night

The next morning we found the Lu Gaffé dal 1930 in Aggius, here you can get delicious coffee & croissants.

Saint Lucia

Camping Selema

The family-run Selema campsite is located in a beautiful, sprawling pine forest on the beach of Santa Lucia (reachable on foot via a path within 3 minutes). The beach is very wide and has fine, white sand. It is only a few minutes' walk to Santa Lucia, a small fishing village. The sanitary facilities are very simple & clean and the site has everything you need (washing machine, restaurant, camper service, mini-market, etc.). We were given a very friendly welcome here and were allowed to choose our own pitch. For the low season (September), this site was still relatively busy. We can definitely recommend the restaurant right on the campsite & in the mornings there is fresh coffee & croissants at the bar.

Cala Liberotto

Camping Cala Ginepro

Our favourite campsite in Sardinia is the one on the east coast Cala Ginepro.

The campsite, located in a beautiful pine forest, is right by the sea and offers direct access to three beautiful beaches. We received a very friendly welcome and were able to choose a suitable spot ourselves. There is no lack of service at this site - whether it's a bar (with ice cream parlor), restaurant, beach bars, washing machine, supermarket - everything is there and you can definitely relax here. The sanitary facilities are also very clean and in very good condition.

For a bike trip, the national park Riserva Biderosa can be reached in just a few minutes. The landscape is fantastic and there are wonderful beaches here that are completely unspoilt.

Even during our travel season (September), due to the popularity of the campsite, it is advisable to reserve a pitch in advance.

Arbus

Camping Sciopadroxiu

The campsite Sciopadroxiu is a highlight of our trip and surprised us in a really positive way. Based on a recommendation, we ended up at this site in the west. If you love nature, are looking for peace and quiet and can cope with little comfort, this is the place for you. The road to the site is already an adventure. It is a partially washed-out gravel road (passable without a four-wheel drive, a little ground clearance helps), but the road is not suitable for arriving with a caravan. The family-run site is only 10 minutes by bike or 35 minutes on foot from the sea and the unique beach of Piscinas. If you don't have a bike with you, you can rent one. The site is also a great starting point for off-road tours with your own vehicle. The campsite has its own restaurant with a bar with a beautiful view of nature. The bar serves fresh coffee and croissants in the morning, and the restaurant, which is highly recommended, serves excellent typical Sardinian dishes and pizza. The really great and fast service in the restaurant is worth mentioning.

At Piscinas beach we can highly recommend the beach bar on the left. You can park your bikes behind the beach bar and there are snacks for lunch as well as ice cream and coffee.
